Also, rental homes tend to be spread among neighborhoods, so there’s no guarantee that one particular property will have green features.
But there is a detached Berkeley County condo for lease that comes with improvements designed to lower power bills.
The more than 1,250-square-foot property is at 7330 Stoney Moss Way in Hanahan. The monthly rent is $1,050.
According to Daryl Shorter of Doug Shorter Property Management, who is handling the lease, the owner of the two bedroom, two bath dwelling “made many upgrades for your convenience.”

The Hanahan residence’s kitchen houses a goodly share of cabinets.
Those include solar panels mounted on the roof, which he says should “greatly reduce your cooling costs and electricity bills overall during the year.”
Another highlight are automatic hurricane covers that protect windows and the back door. Also available is a security system: The tenant would be responsible for monthly-monitoring service.
Along with the energy and security benefits, the condo has an open floor plan with hardwood and tile floors and upgraded appliances in the kitchen.
An enclosed porch connects to the living room, and there’s a bonus room adjacent to the living quarters that could be used for a variety of purposes, Shorter says.
Another convenience of the property is its location, close to a Bi-Lo supermarket off North Rhett Avenue.

The Stoney Moss Way condo is one of the larger floor plans in The Commons of Tanner Plantation neighborhood, Shorter says.
